“Pipe band world videos
I produce the BBC web coverage of the Worlds, and I wanted to let you know that Greater Glasgow Police Scotland Pipe Band’s performances in The Worlds Grade One Final are now live on our website.
Please feel free to share these on your website/Facebook – or indeed to pass around the band, if you haven’t already!”
Listen and enjoy the performances which drew 8th for the MSR and 3rd equal for the Medley. 7th overall.
Greater Glasgow Scotland Police at the 2013 Europeans in Forres
Many thanks to Donald from Dronechorus for his kind permission to display this video recording of our Band at Forres on 29 June 2013 when we competed in 1st Grade for the European Championship. The Band was awarded 5th prize.
Oran Na Fiaclan was the opening tune followed by the Skylark’s Ascension. While the standard was high as usual it is hoped that judges will come to appreciate the shift in musical emphasis to our choice of West Highland tunes adding a more traditional flavour and really going back to our roots.
Strathclyde Police at Dumbarton 2012
Strathclyde Police Pipe Band under Pipe Major Duncan Nicholson playing a great selection of tunes in a new medley at the Scottish Pipe Band Championships held in Levengrove Park in Dumbarton. (Video by kind permission of Dronechorus)
Last band to play competitively at the 2012 British Pipe Band Championships was Strathclyde Police Pipe Band under Pipe Major Duncan Nicholson. This was a kind of farewell to Annan because these championships move to Bathgate in 2013. Strathclyde Police played the following March, Strathspey and Reel [MSR] set in the Grade One competition: March: The Argyllshire Gathering [composed by John MacColl, 1860 – 1943] Strathspey: The Ewe with the Crooked Horn [trad.] Reel: Pretty Marion [trad.] Strathclyde Police took sixth place in the Grade One Championship.
